Happy Blogiversary!

One Year Birthday CakeBecause it is another slow day in the export law world, I thought I’d use the opportunity of today’s post to note that on Tuesday Export Law Blog was one year old. Since our initial post, there have been 207 additional posts and 582 separate comments on those posts.

Traffic statistics are harder to measure, but one of my server statistics programs shows that we are up to about 4,000 unique visitors each month and about 600 visits per day. Around 250 people have signed up for our email notification service. And the Akismet comment spam filter has caught almost 4,000 (!) spam comments from enterprising souls who believe that the readers of this blog are really looking for links to kinky pornography sites of every conceivable permutation, pictures of Britney Spears in various states of undress, prescription drugs, and payday loans.

In all events, I want to take this opportunity to thank all the readers and commenters who have dropped by this year, as well as those who have sent kind emails and tips.

Happy anniversary and thanks for the blog. I’m on your email list because I don’t want to miss any posts. Keep up the good work and I’ll lift a glass of virtual champagne in your honor tonight…or is that a virtual glass of champagne? Or maybe just a real beer!

I am one of your new “unique” visitors. Your site is terrific. Thanks for being both generous and entertaining with your knowledge!

Congratulations, Clif!

You are an asset to the craft and the profession.

By the way, I assumed I didn’t need to be on your email list because Google Desktop (Anyone know the ECCN for that? 5D002?) has recognized Export Law Blog as a most-frequented site and lets me know the minute you post! Am I missing anything by not being on your email distro?

Here’s wishing you another successful year!

Keep it up! I link to your relevant posts on an internal compliance webpage of ours as well as forward the good ones to my parents so they can better understand just what kind of field I’ve gotten myself into.

Thanks for all the insight. I learn something new everyday here just by stopping by to read what’s new.

Happy Anniversary and Congratulations for providing a little bit of humor to what might otherwise be, a humble daily existence buried in government regulations….

Best wishes on your Paper Anniversary! (Quite fitting for a blog about our exceedingly bureaucratic practice area.)

Thanks for sharing your expertise, your insights, and even your puns.

Keep up the good work, Clif. I read each new article that comes out and many have helped me in my job (ECO for a division of a large military contractor). You always learn something new in our line of work and you have shown me quite a bit. Thanks again

Also since the pmddtc.state.gov is not working yet, its kinda slow here too. Thanks for all your updates!

Clif –

Congratulations! Your postings add significantly to both the dialog on export ocntrol policy and day-to-day compliance efforts. The folks at DDTC, BIS and OFAC would do well to keep up with your musings and the observations of commenters at this site to help them better appreciate how their actions impact on, and are pereceived by, the private sector.

Yes, kudos and thanks for all you do. I like your irreverent style and willingness to tip sacred cows. Also I think it takes courage to express frank views and not hide behind anonymity (call me cowardly…).

Anyway, keep up the good work!
