Hacked!

The ScreamSome enterprising pornographer — from Sweden judging by my server logs — hacked the site sometime yesterday in an unsuccessful attempt to strew porno links everywhere. As a result the site was down last night and this morning.

We’ve updated WordPress to plug any security holes in WordPress that might have been exploited. The email notification function may be a little quirky since it doesn’t look like the one that I’m using is completely compatible with the new version of WordPress. We’ll try to get any issues on that worked out over the next several days

  • Clif - did you intend that Munch’s “Scream” be associated with the reference to Sweden? That work
of art was stolen from the Oslo Museum about three years ago. Munch himself was Norwegian - a quibble in this context unless you happen to be Norwegian!

  • I actually wasn’t trying to make any link to Sweden with the detail from Munch’s “The Scream.” It was only meant to mirror my frustration at dealing with the hacker, who, among other things, downloaded 2,000 files on to my site and had figured out a way to prevent me from deleting them without getting help from the webhosting company. I’m on a shared server which prevents me from getting full access even to my own area.
